Growing up between New York and Los Angeles, Hilary Sloane was always interested in the visual arts. She went to School of Visual Arts in New York in 1975 and continued taking classes at Arts Students League in New York, Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and most recently Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles.
Hilary Sloane has been a wardrobe stylist and make-up artist since 1976, working in film, commercials, theater and television. She started her career in New York and moved to Los Angeles in 1979. After mentoring many new professionals in wardrobe styling and make-up she began teaching character make-up in July 2001 at learning Tree University in Chatsworth. Most recently she has merged the fine art and the commercial art through drawing and photography, photographing in Europe, South America and in Mississippi where she has taken photographs and interviews for an on going project about education and life in the rural south. She has shown her drawings in a group show at Chouinard School of Art in Pasadena, California in February 2005, her photographs in a group show at The Julia Dean Studio in Venice, California in July 2005.
